Dhyana Severson | Assistant Trainer
Via Nova Assistant Trainer Dhyana Severson is a familiar face in the local equestrian community. A lifelong Satna Fean and an equestrian since age 9, she rode as a hunter/jumper and eventer until changing her focus to dressage, which has had a significant impact on her journey.
Dhyana’s love for animals and animal welfare led her to a career with horses at Via Nova. With her shared passion for horse welfare and adopting new training methods, Dhyana plays an instrumental role in developing Via Nova’s Priority to Positive® PtP approach for riding and training sports horses.
Dhyana is also a dedicated athlete. In 2017 years ago, she and a young green four-year-old Dutch boy, Incredible, embarked on a training journey with the goal of progressing up the levels—and they were successful! They’ve gained USDF Bronze and Silver medals and ridden with some of the world’s elite equestrians. Incredible is now an established FEI dressage horse training with Positive Reinforcement training and Via Nova’s PtP approach.
This fall, Dhyana will be leaving her full-time position at Via Nova to continue her studies at Tufts University and receive her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree. However, Incredible will continue his Positive Reinforcement and dressage journey with us, and Via Nova will always be Dhyana’s second home; wild horses couldn’t keep her away.
